Despite heavy camapigning encouraging homes and businesses to conserve water, Central Highlands Water is not too concerned about the number of water mains that have burst in Ballarat in recently.
The corporation says 40,000 litres has been lost as a result of three burst mains in the past three weeks.
“We replace those areas where we think there may be a rise in incidents or the potential that the infrastructure is getting older” says Paul O’Donohue,The corporation’s general manager for customer and community relations.
However, concerns have arose since Ballarat’s water storages are at less than 8 per cent full.
