200 people are expected to attend the clean coal summit at NSW Parliament this morning.
Those attending include key participants from the mining, research, infrastructure and investment industries as well as representatives from the state and federal governments.
The Australian government’s top climate change advisor, Professor Ross Garnaut will deliver the keynote speech.
A move towards clean coal technologies and renewable forms of energy for the state’s power plants will be the focus of this morning’s NSW Clean Coal Summit.
NSW Energy Minister Ian Macdonald said “While renewable energy sources will play an increasingly important role, it must be recognised that active support for clean coal technologies…is needed if we are to achieve significant reductions in carbon dioxide emissions.”
