Encouraging news for Beechwood employees and home owners.

Fair Trading Minister Linda Burney has reported an overwhelming number of firms have shown interest in purchasing the collapsed NSW builder Beechwood Homes.
Beechwood left about 300 families with unfinished homes and many subcontractors out of work when they moved into voluntary administration last month.

Investigation finds “fundamental deficiencies” in TAS workplace safety legislation

After three Renison mine deaths in three years, a lengthy investigation by a Tasmanian coroner has found “fundamental deficiencies” in Tasmania’s workplace safety legislation.
Jarrod Jones and Matthew Lister died in a rockfall at Renison’s underground mine near Zeehan in 2001.

Mining giant Xstrata to face lawsuit

Six year old Stella Hare from Mt Isa has launched legal action through her mother against mining giant Xstrata.
Stella was found to have dangerous levels of lead, arsenic, cadmium and other toxic elements absorbed into her body, affecting her brain and nerve function development.
