More signs of global warming in frozen Antarctica

It might be the depths of winter in Antarctica but scientists say they’re seeing more signs of global warming on the frozen continent.
New satellite photos show the Wilkins Ice Shelf is even closer to breaking from the peninsula. Experts say the effects of warming there now look irreversible.

Protest: Greenpeace joins Whitsundays mine protest

Greenpeace has joined a protest against a plan to mine shale oil on the north Queensland coast.
Mining company Queensland Energy Resources is doing feasibility studies into an open cut mine 15 kilometres south of Proserpine.
Simon Roz says the Greenpeace boat, Esperanza, will join protests off Airlie Beach next week.

‘Moderate’ water use by Perilya!!!

The executive general manager at Perilya Limited, Paul Arandt, says the company is conservative in its water use, and it takes every opportunity to recycle contained mine water.
The Greens’ mining spokeswoman, Lee Rhiannon, has said some mining companies are keeping water from farm and domestic users and jeopardising the long-term viability of the agricultural sector.

Underground carbon storage plant in Victoria

Simple. We lock it 2 kilometres underground, therefore removing it from our atmostphere.

Sydney water prices surge

Funding the desalination plant will see inceases in water charges by at least $200 a year. A choice which the New South Wales Government says it has not.
